Welcome to my gallery of paintings.

Images are all original and inspired by the dramatic scenery and nature of the British Isles.

My aim with painting is to try to avoid the literal and find my own way of representing the subject. I work mainly in watercolour as I enjoy its spontaneity, and like to allow it to dictate or suggest form. Texture is an important component, too, often suggested by layers, collage and by use of tools such as writing pens or brush ends. I work on location and refer later to sketches and photographs. I aim for clarity and freedom in the end product, and for impact through use of simple design.
