The estuary at Luskentyre, north west Harris, is a really magical place where the changing tides and light create lots of interest and drama. When you add to that the ever-changing weather and the moody backdrop of Taransay island, it can be a really ethereal landscape.

With this painting I wanted to capture the vivid qualities of the colours at low tide and suggest the contrast of the sand and seaweed against the dark rocks.
