On the west coast of Harris there is a twelve mile single track cul de sac, that hugs the shore, along which we drove on a dank, misty day. At the end of the road is the tiny settlement of Huisinis, a group of white cottages which overlook a sandy beach and the Atlantic.

The drive is a wonderful journey itself, and even on a dull day held some wonderful surprises. This painting was inspired by the isolation and beauty of the tiny settlement at the end of the long road.
